Unfortunately there will be no RAE course run by PARC before the next exam, however assistance and advice will be given to anyone wishing to take the exam. The Club does have a set of  lectures on video cassettes, these may be all you need to pass the exam, if you are interested contact  any committee member.

Rassie Erasmus, SARL Councilor tasked with RAE and Morse code Testing has advised SARL NEWS that the next Radio Amateur Examination will be held in May.

Forms are available on the SARL Web: www.sarl.org.za and on request from the National Amateur Radio Center. Call the voice mail on 088 120 5042 and request that an RAE Registration form is mailed to you. Please give clear address details. Requests may also be send by Email to sarl@intekom.co.za

Registration forms must be returned to the SARL at P O Box 1721 Strubensvallei 1735 and be accompanied by the correct fee. RAE forms without payment can not be processed.

RALLIES

The Club provides Radio Marshals for the major rallies in SA.

Anyone who would like to join the DF hunt is more than welcome. Call Richard Peer  at  012  333 0612 for further details.
The hunt usually takes place on the first Saturday after the Club meeting at 2.00pm starting from the Botanical Gardens, (nr the CSIR).
The Hunt is usually followed by a CLUB "bring 'n braai" at a members home. Call Richard Peer  at  012  333 0612 for further details.

In the near future the DF group intend making some DF antennas suitable for hand helds. It is hoped that this will encourage more members to become involved with this activity. The skills learnt at our DF hunt can really be useful when certain sources of QRM interfere with the repeater etc, so join in and be ready for the next time someone is sitting on their "mike".
The results of a DF Hunt are announced on the Sunday bulletin and later reported in Watts.

At the September Club meeting Hans Proposed a project for a battery charger, he handed out details as well as components to all interested members.

A project to produce a kit to build a PSK31/WSJT interface was also discussed and anyone interested should contact Hans at the address below.

Fourteen members have chosen to take part in the above mentioned projects. Groups will be formed for better collaboration between members, Hans - ZR6HVG, will supply any information necessary to support the project groups.

CONTESTS

The club competes in many contests, for the last couple of years we have won the SARL HF SSB and CW contests. We have also competed in the SARL VHF/UHF contest with success. Please support us in the future it is GREAT FUN!. We would like to make a serious effort next year with the SARL VHF/UHF contest.
